sensory space 感應空間

To reveal the gestures of some sensor, usually unseen, but inevitably present in every-day-life— such as antennas in phones, pressure pads in keyboards—the installation presents naked sensors without any systemic assignment. According to direct touch and interact affect the state of sensor, realize the space which defined and filled by the action of sensor.

為了突顯某些平常看不見,但是在日常生活中卻確實存在的感應器──比如電話天線、鍵盤壓板等──這個展間 所呈現的是一種完全沒有系統任務的「裸」感應器。透過直接接觸與互動造成到感應器的變化,查覺這些經由感 應器所定義與填充的空間。

A section of the module is made by antennas directly amplified without demodulation: all the detected wireless signals — e.g. the signals emitted by passers-by’ or visitors’ cell phones—will be audible as a change of the "environmental noise". This "environment noise" surrounds every place we are living in; resonators is dedicated to its >amplification< and >visibility<. 共振裝置直接由天線強化,不經過解調。所有偵測到的無線訊號──尤其是路過觀眾的手機訊號──都會被聽見 ,成為「環境噪音」的變數。而這些「環境噪音」充斥著我們的生活空間,但不在我們所感知的範圍外,成為了 被忽略但其實具體的存在。


b) gestures with sensors 二、感應器姿態

Video-footage, video-display, loudspeaker, computer, LED-matrices, electronic board, light-frequency transducer, pressure and temperature sensor, data link, LCD- displays, surveillance camera, code 錄像、液晶螢幕、揚聲器、電腦、LED-矩陣、電路板、程 式編碼、光頻率轉換器、壓力與溫度感應器、監視錄影機

We can define all the procedures or actions related to a particular technique or apparatus as the gestures of that particular technique or action setup, like the gesture of watching TV, taking pictures, and so on.Some sensors closely related to the body—sensitive for luminosity, temperature, pressure— build a second section of the space B32. The sensors are visible and touchable for the audience and each sensor is directly connected to its own display.The exhibited sensors appear again in a video presented on a flat screen. The video is classifying different gestures: hands are covering and discovering the eye of the luminosity sensor; hands are bringing the temperature sensor to someone‘s mouth, in order to catch their body temperature; someone‘s finger is pressing on the pressure-sensor.The video-sequences about how to activate the sensors are accompanied by the corresponding visualization of the data on a led-display —a kind of post-synchronization of the data streaming.The video-footage was produced both in Cologne and in Taipei.The video is more than an instruction video. It is a portraits series revealing what pieces of bodies can imagine about their own sensorial extension.


我們可以將與某種科技或設備有關的程序或動作定義為這種特殊科技設備的姿態,例如看電視的姿態、拍照的姿 態等等。一些對身體有密切關係的感應器─對亮度、溫度、壓力具敏感性─在B32展間構成另一個區域。這些感應 器對觀眾來說看得見也摸得到,而且每一個感應器都與自己的顯示器聯結。展出的感應器再度出現於錄像作品中 ,展示出不同的姿態:雙手遮覆或揭開照度感應器;將溫度感應器拿至嘴巴前,以獲取身體的溫度數據;某人用 手指頭壓住壓力感應器,展示如何啟動感應器的錄像,將與另一個LED顯示器同時陳列,LED中顯示由數據而來的 視覺圖像。錄像畫面於台北與德國科隆製作,其內容不僅僅只是操作介紹。這個作品可視為一系列肖像畫,展示 個體延展自身感應範圍的想像。
